4.1. Vocabulario para preguntar y dar direcciones

En este punto, los estudiantes de nivel A2 aprenderán a pedir y dar direcciones en inglés. Algunas expresiones comunes para preguntar direcciones incluyen:

• Excuse me, do you know where (place) is? (Disculpe, ¿sabe dónde está (lugar)?)
• How can I get to (place)? (¿Cómo puedo llegar a (lugar)?)
• Could you tell me how to get to (place)? (¿Podría decirme cómo llegar a (lugar)?)

Por otro lado, algunas expresiones comunes para dar direcciones incluyen:

• Go straight ahead. (Vaya derecho)
• Turn left/right at the (street name). (Gire a la izquierda/derecha en la (nombre de la calle))
• It’s just around the corner/on the left/on the right. (Está a la vuelta de la esquina/a la izquierda/a la derecha)
• Take the (bus/train) to (destination). (Tome el (autobús/tren) a (destino))
• It’s (distance or time) away. (Está a (distancia o tiempo) de aquí)

Preguntando direcciones:

• Excuse me, do you know where the nearest post office is? (Disculpe, ¿sabe dónde está la oficina de correos más cercana?)
• How can I get to the hotel from here? (¿Cómo puedo llegar al hotel desde aquí?)
• Could you tell me how to get to the museum? (¿Podría decirme cómo llegar al museo?)

Dando direcciones:

• Go straight ahead for two blocks and turn left at the third street. The museum will be on your right. (Vaya derecho dos cuadras y gire a la izquierda en la tercera calle. El museo estará a su derecha).
• Take the bus number 4 to downtown and get off at the third stop. Turn right and walk for two blocks. The hotel will be on your left. (Tome el autobús número 4 hacia el centro y bájese en la tercera parada. Gire a la derecha y camine dos cuadras. El hotel estará a su izquierda).
• It’s just around the corner. You’ll see a big red sign that says ‘post office’. (Está a la vuelta de la esquina. Verá un gran letrero rojo que dice ‘oficina de correos’).
